Teaching Philosophy:

Ted started teaching guitar in 1988 immediately following his graduation from the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood California. While there, he studied with the likes of Keith Wyatt and Steve Trovato. He has been giving guitar lessons and gigging in country, blues, rock and roll, jazz, rockabilly, and even polka bands ever since. Currently Ted sees over 60 students a week in Indianapolis Indiana. As well as giving private lessons, he teaches group classes at elementary schools, churches, and summer camps. He also taught a group class at Indiana University for which he wrote the curriculum; the satisfaction from which prompted him to write his own method book. Ted teaches students of various skill levels and interests. His specialties include blues, country, rockabilly, rock and roll, bluegrass, sight reading, and theory. With his former jump blues band The Wolfpack, Ted recorded an album of original music and also appeared on two compilation albums: Live from the Slippery Noodle Inn Vol. 2, and the Christmas album Santa was a Bluesman Vol. 3. The band was voted the best unsigned blues band which earned them the opportunity to perform on legendary Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee. They also opened shows for such notable blues artists as Junior Wells, Koko Taylor, John Mayall, Lonnie Mack, and The Yardbirds. Some of his major influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Pete Anderson, James Burton, Clarence White, Doc Watson, and Charlie Christian, just to name a few. In addition to teaching guitar Ted also teaches mandolin, dulcimer, and has taught the odd dobro and ukulele lesson as well.
