Joshua's teaching philosophy:
"...The principle of teachers should be to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge for them to achieve their full potential in their field of study. Teachers must consider the student’s background knowledge and their learning goals; providing them with a learning environment that emphasizes the reality and significance of personal development. Their learning environment must be one that is cooperative and favors or promotes change or innovation. In the field of music, instructors should require students to practice the basics of music rigorously and develop them thoroughly; key to their eventual success is an understanding of stylistic vocabulary and structure, a concept of sound quality, and the ability to listen critically. Students should also receive reinforcement of behavior through concern and connection, and commend for their distinguishing characteristics. It is my hope that as teachers impart knowledge, they would manage to inspire and motivate students to develop heuristic practices and lateral thinking. Teachers should have a sound psychological basis for a good pedagogy; their presentation should be dynamic, adaptive to the capacity and development of the recipient...."
