Ian's teaching philosophy:
"...My teaching style stresses fluency in standard notation as it is the international language of all musicians. Musicality, phrasing and technique are other virtues I try to instill in my students. I believe that conforming to certain technical aspects of music while still being creative and stylistic is what being a musician is all about. I also feel that no two students are alike that each one requires a unique approach. Making sure that the next generation of musicians are dedicated, capable and creative is something I am very devoted to...."
